Information Drive Unlocked uses

Drive Unlocked uses your device's precise location while a drive is active.

Location information is used to:

• Record the route you travel.
• Calculate distance travelled.
• Display your current position and completed route on a map.
• Identify roads and road sections you have driven.
• Calculate road discoveries, progress, XP and achievements.

Location may continue to be used while a drive is active when your screen is locked or Drive Unlocked is not visible.

Location tracking stops when you end the drive.

Saved drive information

A saved drive may contain information including:

• Route coordinates.
• GPS timestamps.
• Distance and drive duration.
• Road-section identifiers.
• Drive names.
• Drive notes.
• Favourite status.
• XP, achievements and road-discovery progress.

Saved drive history is stored locally on your device using Drive Unlocked's local database.

Drive Unlocked does not currently require you to create an account.

Third-party map and routing services

Drive Unlocked uses third-party mapping and routing technology to provide maps and identify the roads travelled during a drive.

Route information may be transmitted to a routing service based on Project OSRM so recorded GPS points can be matched to the road network.

Drive Unlocked also uses OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap-derived map data to display maps within the app.

When these services are used, their infrastructure may receive information necessary to process the request, which can include route coordinates, requested map areas, IP address and other technical network information.

Information processed by third-party services is subject to those providers' own privacy, security and retention practices.

How information is used

Information is used to provide Drive Unlocked's core functionality, including:

• Drive recording.
• Route visualisation.
• Saved drive history.
• Road discovery.
• Distance calculation.
• XP and level progression.
• Achievements.

Drive Unlocked does not sell your location data.

Drive Unlocked does not currently use your location information for advertising.

Data retention and deletion

Saved drive information remains stored locally on your device until you:

• Delete an individual drive within Drive Unlocked.
• Clear Drive Unlocked's application data.
• Uninstall Drive Unlocked from your device.

Data transmitted to third-party mapping or routing services may be processed or retained according to the practices of those service providers.

Device permissions

Drive Unlocked may request access to:

• Precise location — used to record drives and identify roads travelled.
• Foreground service functionality — allows an active drive to continue recording when the screen is locked or the app is not visible.
• Notifications — where supported or required by Android, used to display information about an active drive.

You can change Drive Unlocked's permissions through your device settings at any time.

Disabling location access will prevent Drive Unlocked from recording drives correctly.

Children's privacy

Drive Unlocked is not specifically directed at children.

Security

Drive Unlocked takes reasonable measures to protect information stored by the app and information transmitted to external services.

However, no method of electronic storage or data transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as Drive Unlocked develops or its features change.

Updated versions will be published at this same privacy-policy address and will include a revised "Last updated" date.
